More than 100 Arun food businesses achieve top hygiene rating

More than 100 food businesses across Arun have been awarded the highest possible food hygiene rating of five since April.

Food hygiene ratings help you choose where to eat with confidence. All businesses serving food to the public must meet hygiene standards, whether they run a restaurant, café, takeaway, food truck or food business operating from home.

In Arun, food businesses must register with the council, and many are inspected by our environmental health officers.

Do you qualify for support with bills, grants and home heating?

As the weather gets colder, it’s worth checking if you, a friend or family member could get extra financial help. A quick check could save money and help with day-to-day costs.

Support is available with things like rent, benefits, caring responsibilities, disabilities and long-term health conditions.

Some households may also be able to get help with essentials such as food, energy bills and other everyday expenses.

Lighting installed on section of Bognor Regis promenade

New solar-powered lights are now in place along the promenade between Gloucester Road and Longbrook Park, making this previously unlit stretch of seafront safer and easier to use.

Arun District Council and Bognor Regis Town Council worked together on the scheme, with funding from Bognor Regis Town Council, Bognor Regis Town Centre Action Group, the Safer Arun Partnership and the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner.

Safe, legal and responsible – using e-scooters and e-bikes

E-scooters and e-bikes are increasingly popular, but it’s important to know the rules and how to use them safely on the road.

Lithium-ion batteries can be a fire risk, especially if you use an incompatible charger or a poor-quality replacement battery.

Before you or your children ride, check the facts and safety advice in our full guide

Cemetery maintenance over autumn and winter – request to visitors

Annual grave turfing will begin at Arun cemeteries on 31 October 2026, helping to keep lawn graves safe, cared for and accessible.

We kindly ask deed holders and visitors to remove stones, gravel, bark, glass vases, wind chimes, lights, clothing, fragile mementoes and any trees or shrubs from lawn graves before work begins.

Any remaining items will be kept safely for 28 days so they can be collected, before being disposed of if unclaimed.
